Time to get an oil change & rotate.... oh and some warranty work done to fix the issues I have:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I had to add a line for the noisy buzzy dial shifter (there’s a solenoid in it that locks/unlocks the knob from turning unless your foot is on the brake), and add that sometimes when I get a text, it doesn’t show up on the radio like it should.

Someday the Durango will make it in to the shop to fix the A/C that sometimes doesn’t blow, the fuel economy readout switching itself from MPG to GPL (like, how even??) the mis-aligned passenger front door, and the fisheyes in the paint on the left front a-pillar.

Job Security. I has it.

The a pillar mouldings are too high?

What does that even mean?

Jesusfuckingchrist. The DumberChrysler era practically gave me PTSD (I swear to fuck if I never see another ZJ caliper or TJ with the 33" kit, it will be too soon.) But this?

This is just... I mean... holy fucking shit. Doing pads and rotors as warranty is one thing. PCM flashing before it’s on the floor is one thing. But they actually fucking delivered this ?! I mean holy shit, I would’ve been fired for lying about  PPI based on the A pillar alone.

You should see the list of TSB before the vehicle even is allowed to leave the dealer lot for the new Toyota Proace(french rebadge). Firewall sealant needed redoing, all wiring to the cargo doors(rear and side), along with a bunch of other things to check were done right from the factory. i think it was like 28 points/seperate bulletins.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a vehicle with less than 40k miles on it. Or a warranty. Someday, maybe.

I can dream.

28 pre-delivery TSBs? Those are rookie numbers! You gotta beef those up, my man!

D odge Ram with 5.9 Cummins 12v/24v : 14 secret TSBs just for the engine . And those are only the ones I remember.

My 1997 is both the newest vehicle I’ve ever owned and also the vehicle with the least amount of miles I’ve ever owned.

I don’t know whether that’s impressive or depressing.

The mouldings along the windshield were not installed properly, and there was a gap at the top (circled)

It was a dealer trade. Thankfully I work here so I don’t mind the small things.

Except that shifting issue. Valve body (backordered) is on the way.

I was dumping ~$200 into my rusty beater a month, paying that for a lease with a warranty made sense.

I just hope there’s another $199mo Lease Special when my 3 years are up with this truck.

Yeah, I spent over $1k/month last year on maintenance/ fixes (problems with both axles, transmission rebuild, etc) on top of my last year of payments . If I didn’t love my Jeep so much I would have been seriously considering buying something new.

(Plus I knew the JL was coming out this year, and there’s no way I’d buy a JK except in desperation.)

My Mazda3 was at the point where I was afraid to jack it up to swap winter/summer wheels due to the underbody rust , and had a vibration coming from the trans? Maybe? I had a tech and myself narrow the noise down to the intermediate axle shaft bearing, but replacing that did not fix the noise. Wheel bearing were new, and the only other culprit was going to be trans....

So it went bye bye.

That’s a lot of issues for a car with only 10k miles on it.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

... holy fucking shit. You cannot be serious. It’s that widespread that the part is backordered?

Thank you Tom McParland for talking me out of everything FCA.

Of they just didn’t make enough.

There are a LOT of 8 speed automatic Rams on the road.

Apparently the only “enough” would be a quantity sufficient to replace the valve body in every Ram on the road twice during the initial warranty period. Anything that ends in ‘5RE’ or ‘5RFE’ on it is going to be absolute shit guaranteed (I swear to god everyone involved with the 45RFE better be out of the field permanently ,) but this is truly next level.

I mean seriously, I knew parts back order fuckery (other side of the aisle was GM, and we did fuel spiders and intake gaskets.) A current production part with 6 years of back catalog and they’re still experiencing that rate of failure? Fuck. That. The entire design is obviously defective.
